We sell the colour,
not the glass.
Glasshue is a small range of coloured glass for the table, designed in Aarhus. It exists because coloured glass is bought on a photograph and lived with in a room, and those two things rarely match.
What you actually own when you buy a coloured glass is not the object. It is what it does to the light in the room it stands in — the patch of amber that lands on a table at four in the afternoon, the green rectangle that climbs a wall as the sun drops. That moves all day and is never quite the same colour twice, which is the good part and also the part that makes it hard to buy online.
So the shop is built around the two questions that decide whether you will be happy with a piece a year from now: where is the colour, and what will it look like in your light.

What this shop does differently
- Glass only
- All 43 pieces are glass. No ceramics, no electrical lighting, no textiles. A narrow range is easier to be precise about than a broad one.
- Where the colour is, on every piece
- Through-coloured, surface-coated or hand-painted, stated on the card before you open the page. The first survives a decade of dishwashing; the others do not, and we say so.
- Four photographs, not one filter
- Where we show a piece under four lights, those are four separate photographs of the same object. Filtering one frame would show you a colour the glass does not have.
- Lead-free throughout
- No lead crystal at all. On drinking glasses, the 20 mm below the lip is bare, uncoated glass — enforced in the code that builds this site.
- Temperature per piece
- Soda-lime and borosilicate behave differently, so each piece carries its own ceiling in °C rather than a general reassurance about heat.
- Designed and made, stated separately
- The design happens in Aarhus. The glass is made by works in Poland, Czechia, Portugal and Slovakia, named per piece. We do not blur the two.
What we deliberately do not say
A list of claims this shop will not make, because they are either unprovable or untrue of glass. This is checked automatically every time the site is built — if one of them ever appears in the copy, the build fails rather than publishing it.
- That any colour lasts indefinitely
- That soda-lime glass resists heat
- That anything here survives being dropped
- That any packaging prevents all breakage
- That the glass is manufactured in Denmark
- That a machine-formed piece was blown by mouth
